"What is it?"

"Think it's a bomb? Or something else?"

"I don't know, once Wheeljack gets here with his scanner we'll find out."

It had been a morning where there truly was nothing out of the ordinary happening.... Until the night patrol was returning from their routes and came across a wrapped package outside the entrance of the Ark.

Immediately alarms were raised and they were ordered to bring it inside to test it for possible contaminants or to see if it contained a bomb or weapon.

Red Alert was fritzing more than normal as they scrutinized the package, Wheeljack even arrived to scan and look it over finding nothing actually off with it and finding that the box contained a data disc.

What was contained on the disc however became the topic for concerns.

What it a secret coded message intended for a spy that might possibly be amongst them, and they all crowded about as the wrapping was carefully drawn back and discarded as Red Alert took the disc and inserted it into the nearby terminal.

What met him as others peered over his shoulder to get a better look was a series of rather detailed encryptions that did not allow for him to progress beyond the page that simple said Jazz.

Of course at this point all optics rounded on the saboteur who had been quietly leaning against the wall watching the collection of mechs try and work out if the disc was harmless or not.

"So..."

It was Ironhide to finally break the silence as Jazz slowly meandered over to have a look over Red Alert's shoulder as the others gave him some room.

"Any particular reason yer name's on this?"

Jazz glanced to the mech from under his visor before giving a little shrug of his shoulders,

"Dunno 'Hide, maybe a coincidence?"

Ironhide frowned seeming unconvinced by the Porsche's response before their attention was grabbed by Red sputtering as he tried once more to crack the codes that was blocking out the content of the disc.

"Damn Red, who ever left this here did not want ya to have a look through it."

Jazz smiled sweetly to the still sputtering security director as he once more tried, rather unsuccessfully at that, to break through the encryptions again.

Jazz couldn't help his little giggle as Red got up and left the room cursing Perceptor taking his vacant seat at the terminal as the others lingered.
Jazz had a feeling it had to do with general curiosity of what was on the disc and just who sent it.

"These seem to be Soundwave's work."

"What's going on?"

Hound and Mirage had taken this time to join the little group, Sideswipe looked over at them before looking back at Perceptor as he worked away at the disc and finding himself having the same degree of luck as Red Alert had.

"Me and Sunny found a wrapped package outside the main entrance on our way back in from patrol last night, had a disc in it and all they can get it to say is Jazz and Percy says it was probably Soundwave that left it there."

The front liner answered as he snickered hearing a very quiet curse coming from the scientist.

"And Soundwave has done a very good job of locking down whatever information that this disc contains as the level of encryption and firewalls are staggering. It is as though he does not want it falling into the wrong hands, which begs the question as to why it was found outside the base."

Perceptor abandoned the terminal now, leaning back in the chair as he mused to himself,

"Unless of course Lazerbeak perhaps was making a run back to their base with the packet and something happen to cos her to drop it. There are so many possibilities as to why it could have been there, perhaps Megatron had wanted Soundwave to plant it in hopes that we would find it and bring it into the base and insert it into our syst- Oh!"

The other watched as the scientist rose and hurriedly exited,

"I must tell Red Alert to run a full diagnostic on the system just in case Soundwave is remotely accessing our systems!"

His voice faded down the hallway and the others shared an uneasy look, well all but Jazz who was looking intently at the screen where his name remained as well as some other things that he recognized.

He looked up when he heard Hound chuckle a little, Mirage glancing over to him before speaking,

"What is it?"

Hound looked to the spy and put a hand on his shoulder,

"I bet it's a gift."

"What? Why would a 'con be leaving a gift for Jazz?"

Hound looked over to Sideswipe now,

"It's Valentine's day."

He sighed shaking his head at the blank look he received before looking at Mirage then back to Sideswipe.

"It's a human holiday, where you give a gift of some sort to the person, or mech you love."

Sideswipe seemed to contemplate this before giving a shrug of his shoulders,

"Again, why would a 'con be leaving a gift for Jazz? Whatever, I'm hitting the berth."

He started to the door, brushing past Hound and Mirage as Ironhide and the others soon followed suit, which left Jazz, Hound, and Mirage in the room.

Jazz whistled to himself as he took the vacant seat at the terminal and flew through the many encryptions with what Hound could only describe as practiced ease.

Another message flashed up on the screen and Hound glanced to Mirage and nodded towards the door, and the two quietly left and closed the door behind them, leaving Jazz alone with the message on the screen.

I am aware that other genres are more to your preference but I have compiled a playlist that I hope will be to your liking.

If not, an alternative list is available and can be present if required.

Jazz heard a quiet sound from the vents above him and smiled as he brought up his own files and the music player he had hidden amongst bits of code.

He hit play and leant back in his chair glancing upwards seeing the small flash of red before he smiled, mouthing his thank you before blowing a kiss to the cassette hidden in the vent.

Soundwave was, well as much as he could be, amused by the footage Lazerbeak had on her return to the Nemesis.

He idly stroked the top of her head as she nuzzled her beak into his palm, a soft laugh escaped him at the aggravation he witness as both Red Alert and Perceptor tried in vain to crack his encryptions on the disc.

How the black and white mech stayed quiet throughout the whole ordeal a pretty little smile tugging at the corner of his lips.

He saw as Perceptor spoke out loud of possible reasons for the discs presence and how Hound seemed to be the only one who had the processor to figure out why it was there in the first place.

Of course now that could raise questions amongst the Autobots, he would have to send Lazerbeak or Ravage to observe them when they finally did pull Jazz aside for questioning as to why he was receiving gifts from a Decepticon.

And then it came to the Porsche taking the unoccupied seat at the terminal and breezing through the encryptions as though it was merely a simple password and finding both the music and the message embedded within.

For a moment Jazz's expression was unreadable and Soundwave felt a wave of unease come over his spark before he saw him turn towards Lazerbeak's hiding spot, damnable mech was always so perceptive, and whisper his thank you.

Of course Soundwave felt his intakes hitch at the simple gesture of a kiss blown 'his' way.

Perhaps the strange holidays of the humans weren't all bad.
A short Valentine's Day story where Sideswipe and Sunstreaker find an odd looking package left at the Ark's main entrance.

Slight slash but not actually prominent enough to warrant a warning I think.

Props to :icondragonseeker789: for the idea with Hound.

What a concerning, though sweet V-day gift. And after the Hound/Ravage thing, I would have been surprised if you didn't add that little detail to the story. All in all, I'm glad I waited for the day to read this. Nice job!
